Joana Gorenstein, flauta

Joana Gorenstein, born in São Paulo, began her musical studies at the age of 6.

 

She graduated from the State University of Campinas, in the class of Prof. Sávio Araújo. In Germany, she completed her master's degree at the Musikhochschule Münster, in the class of Prof. Eyal Ein-Habar. Still in Europe, Joana completed the specialization course in transverse flute with distinction, in the class of Prof. Jessica Dalsant, in Italy.

 

A chamber music enthusiast, Joana founded the groups Brazilian Winds Ensemble and Rhein-Trio in 2020. In 2022, both groups received funding from the German institution Neustart Kultur, to tour and record in the country.

 

In addition to participating in masterclasses with renowned flutists such as Emmanuel Pahud, William Bennet, Vincent Lucas, Felix Renggli, Denis Bouriakov, Joana was the winner and finalist of several competitions in Brazil, Europe and Israel, such as the Gazzeloni Competition, Wind and Percussion Competition of the Jerusalem Music Academy, Waslaw Bukowski Competition, Prelude Competition, Unicamp Young Soloists Competition, among others.

 

In 2022 Joana received an Erasmus scholarship to study at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, in Israel, in the class of Prof. Hagar Shahal. In Israel, she is frequently invited by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, with which she performed the South American tour in 2022.

 

Currently, Joana is part of “Tedarim”, a master's program specializing in contemporary music at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, Israel.
